A conversation between the inside and the outside.
About the artist:
Birgit uses movement, emotion, social sculpture, drawing and voice to understand and create new rules for the maintenance of her life. Inspired by productivity culture, neuroscience and awkwardness she hopes to offer new habits to the world around her through the medium of performance. She is most recently constructing a platform for an emotional schedule within the framework of a perfect, repeated day.
In 2020 she performed for Performance Mix Festival with the New Dance Alliance (NYC). She has held residencies at Camac (FR) and Arteles (FI). As a founding member of the Hudson Valley Movement Collective she has been in residence at Mount Tremper Arts, NY and the Arts Society of Kingston, NY. She has studied various forms of movement. She holds a BFA from Indiana University Bloomington in Painting and Drawing and an MFA from TransArt University/Plymouth University in the UK. She has lived in Beacon, NY since 2014.
