For Hatak

Artist statement:
Weaving
I am compelled by nostalgia and make weavings inspired by the vast waters, glaciers, and rural remnants of the Northwest landscape I used to know as a child.

Installation
Within the framing constructs of a written poem or place of installation, my work questions the boundaries of how we form and understand meaning. I write words on different walls or make objects to try and understand how the forms of meaning are determined by spatial and physical contexts. Varying hierarchies occur through the specificity of composition and color differentiation. The expansion of meanings in my work is furthered through the form of installation so that each object or drawing can be viewed from multiple sides at various distances in relation to other things around it.
